Indian Women’s table tennis team beats Singapore to bag a team gold in the final of the Table Tennis event.

After Madhurika Patkar and Mouma Das put India ahead, it was Manika Batra who thrashed Yihan Zhou in the singles challenge to bag India’s first Commonwealth Gold in Table Tennis.

Manika Batra started India’s final crusade defeating World No. 4 Tianwei Feng 3-2. 11-8, 8-11, 7-11, 11-9, 11-7. In a hard-fought contest Manika rallied back to snatch the first game.

Singapore’s Mengyu Yu, however, put up a resilient show against India’s Madhurika Patkar to bring parity in the team encounter. Yu thumped Patkar in three straight games.

Madhurika Patkar and Mouma Das, however, outlasted the Singapore duo to extend India’s lead to 2-1.
