India-China border trade at Nathu La concludes

The 12th edition of the bilateral border trade between India and China from Nathu La Border concluded today at Nathula Border.
Secretary of Commerce and Industries, Sikkim, S.K. Pradhan formally declared the trade closed for this season of the year 2018, in the presence of Joint Secretary N Jaswant and officials and traders from both sides.
The closing function was organized at Nathu La to mark the end of trade for a scheduled period of 7 months between 1st of May to 29th of November, 2018 and was attended by officials from Commerce and Industries Department, Government of Sikkim, Customs, ITBP, Immigration and Traders.
The volume of trade for this season recorded upto October 2018 is Rs 37.5 crore of exports and 2.76 crore of imports.
In addition to that, Rs 3 crore was also collected in the form of tax including CGST, SGST and IGST.
The next season’s trade between the two nations will re-open from 1st May, 2019. Around 700 to 800 traders from the Indian side are involved in this trade every year.
