The Supreme Court today pulled up the Assam government for creating confusion in the final draft of the NRC and not re-evaluating the claims of those who have been left

The Supreme Court today pulled up the Assam government for creating confusion in the final draft of the NRC and not re-evaluating the claims of those who have been left out.

The bench led by Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi stated that the Assam Government is creating confusion in regards to the NRC update process.

The judicature while further taking note of the submissions of the state government, stated that 40 lakh people were not included in second draft NRC, which meant they were prima facie foreigners.

The observations came after the Centre urged the apex court to suspend the process of NRC in view of the forthcoming general elections.
