Elaborate search and rescue operations are underway at the Nuranang waterfalls to trace 24-year-old Norbu Dorjee, who went missing on August 17.
A team of the NDRF have reached the location and has joined the search and rescue operations. The search operation will further cover the historic Chaksam bridge under Mukto circle.
Norbu Dorjee went missing after he slipped into the Nuranang waterfalls popularly known as Madhuri Lake in Tawang district. 24-year-old Norbu Dorjee along with two of his friends were taking a break at the lake when the mishap happened.
Though Norbu’s friends reportedly tried their best to rescue him, but all efforts went in vain.
Despite sincere rescue efforts, Dorjee is yet to be traced. Apprehensions are that the he might have been swept away by waters of the Tawangchu river.
Villagers of Jang and Mukto areas are also assisting the search operations along the left bank of Tawangchu river.
Meanwhile, the district administration has also appealed village headmen, public leaders, youths and NGOs of Tawang and Kitpi circles to assist in the search operations.
