At a time when talks are just round the corner in political circles as to who will be the next MLA from Khonsa West legislative assembly constituency in Tirap district, after the upcoming bye-election to the constituency which is to be held within the next couple of months, a handout in the name of Naga Army (Ollo) has created sensation in Eastern Arunachal.

The handout in English, copy of which is in possession with Northeast Live, directs people of the constituency to vote for Phawang Lowang or be prepared to face punishment.

By-election to the constituency has been necessitated due to the brutal assassination of the then sitting MLA Tirong Aboh by suspected militants on May 21. Aboh who was seeking a second mandate was murdered along with 10 others in broad daylight while he was on his way to Khonsa from Dibrugarh.

When contacted, Phawang Lowang who had lost the last election to Aboh by over a thousand votes said the handout is fake and has been distributed to malign his image.

On the other hand the SP of Tirap, Kardak Riba, said that police and security forces are investigating the matter very seriously although nobody has lodged any FIR in this regard.
