IAF to operationalise Vijaynagar’s Advanced Landing Ground in Arunachal Pradesh

The operational capability of the Indian Air Force is all set to get a major fillip in Arunachal Pradesh, as the resurfaced Advanced Landing Ground (ALG) in Vijaynagar is set to operationalise on Wednesday.

The Advanced Landing Ground will carry out fixed wing operations in Arunachal Pradesh.

The Vijaynagar ALG will be inaugurated jointly by the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Command – Air Marshal RD Mathur and General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Easterna Command – Lt General Anil Chauhan.

The duo will be landing at the Vijaynagar ALG in an AN-32 aircraft with other senior IAF and army officials.

This will be the 8th Advanced Landing Ground, which will be made operational by the Air Force.

Other seven ALGs which have been made operational by the Eastern Air Command are at Pasighat, Mechuka, Walong, Tuting, Ziro, Along and Tawang.

The Vijayanagar ALG is situated in a remote corner of Arunachal Pradesh, very close to the international border with Myanmar, and is not connected with any motorable road.
