The mortal remains of the air warriors who died in the AN-32 aircraft crash reached New Delhi on Friday morning where Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh paid his last respects

The mortal remains of the air warriors who died in the AN-32 aircraft crash reached New Delhi on Friday morning where Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh paid his last respects to the 13 IAF personnel killed in the crash.

Floral wreaths were laid on the coffins of the deceased IAF personnel as the Defence minister and top IAF officials paid their last respects to the deceased air warriors. All 13 bodies were brought over to Jorhat from the crash site in Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday.

The bodies were brought in to the Jorhat Air Force station late in the evening yesterday where a formal wreath laying ceremony was held for the deceased IAF personnel. The bodies will be sent over to their respective hometowns to be handed over to their families and kin.

The ill-fated AN-32 aircraft had gone missing on June 3 while on its way form Jorhat to Mechuka.

While the wreckage was located on June 11, inclement weather played spoilsport in the rescue efforts as heavy rains and visibility issues made it difficult for the airborne rescue missions carry out their work properly.

It was after the ground party reached the crash site on June 19 that the retrieval of the bodies became a possibility.
