Meghalaya police personnel commits suicide in West Bengal

A personnel of the sixth battalion of Meghalaya police, identified as Vikram Lama, committed suicide on Wednesday in West Bengal. Lama was part of the 7th company of the Sixth battalion

A personnel of the sixth battalion of Meghalaya police, identified as Vikram Lama, committed suicide on Wednesday in West Bengal.

Lama was part of the 7th company of the Sixth battalion that was deployed for Lok Sabha election duty in West Bengal.

Although the reasons of suicide are not yet known, but the personnel of the battalion alleged that they used to receive a paltry amount of Rs. 150 per day for food while on duty.

However, after the implementation of the Fifth pay commission the personnel on duty used to get Rs 600 per day.

His body will be brought to Shillong on Thursday after completion of the post-mortem examination.
