Mizoram CM inaugurates Centre for Disability Studies

Mizoram Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla inaugurated the Centre for Disability Studies at Tanhril in Aizawl. The event was attended by Union Minister of State for Social Justice & Empowerment Krishanpal Gurjar.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister expressed happiness for the inauguration of Disability Study Centre in Mizoram under the joint initiative of National Institute for Loco-motor Disabilities, Kolkata and Department of Social Work.

He said that the Centre would bring fame to Mizoram and expose the state outside the world. He also pointed out that the Centre has planned to make common identification card for the differently able people, which would help them in the filed of education, physical health and political participation.

Meanwhile, the construction of the Centre began in 2015 and was completed in June this year. It was funded by the Department of Persons with Disabilities under Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment.
