An important security meet was held between Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal at the Ministry of Home Affairs in New Delhi on Monday.

Security arrangements to be undertaken in the State post the publication of the final draft NRC in July and the recent grenade attack in the State’s Capital city Guwahati were discussed in the meeting.

Union Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba, Assam Chief Secretary Alok Kumar, Director General of Assam Police Kuladhar Saikia, NRC State Co-ordinator Prateek Hajela along with several other top officials of the Centre and Assam Government were present in this meeting that discussed the security scenario in the State.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said that as long as the BJP-Government stays in power, security of each and every citizen will be ensured.

He said that his Government has a zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism. Sonowal also re-assured that no genuine citizen will be harassed in the name of NRC.
